Sarah Coghill
Born in London in 1948
Sarah graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 1971, having won the Special Landseer Prize for life drawing in 1969, while studying there.
Since then, she has developed a very personal style. She is concerned with figures confined to a limited space, whether mobile or static. This gives the work a sculptural quality and invites the onlooker to observe the surrounding areas as much as the figures themselves. Her palette is usually limited to subdued tones. Her landscapes, which show this same concern for shapes in space, do by their
few colours and sparse outlines, seem to achieve a different quality, a sense of tranquility pervades the scenes.
Her work has been exhibited regularly and worldwide. It is in numerous private collections both in the UK and abroad, as well as the Unilever Corporate collection.
